About my work- I specialize in a glass technique called murrine also known as millefiori. The image is created by layering the glass horizontally with a torch, and creating a glass cane that the image runs all the way through. The cane is then sliced, polished, and remelted with different layers of glass. Adding a metal shank in back while it is molten to create an heirloom quality button. There is no painting involved. Although they are all made from the same cane each button can be slightly different due to the magnification of the clear. Each piece is put into an oxygen propane torch and annealed for strength and quality.
